SlingBox. Today its announced a version of Placeshifter for Mac OS X. Yay.

So if you’re one of those people that has a Windows- or Linux-based PC set up to record TV, you can now access it with your Mac OS X computers. Assuming you’re using SageTV to record stuff. Which you totally should be, now that you can access the stuff on three different OS platforms.

The Mac Placeshifter will be available this month as part of a $99.95 bundle with SageTV Media Center. Additional concurrent placeshifting connections will be available for $29.99 each.

  • I’m surprised someone hasn’t put together an open source version of slingbox. Seems like it would be a great companion to MythTV.

  • I use Elgato and EyeTV along with FREE VLC and CyTV HamachiX software for a all mac solution that works very well..and is secure! Sling box your heart out!

  • Mmm… doesn’t Windows XP Home Media Center Edition do this already (and probably Vista as well)? XP has it’s limitations… alright… a lot of limitations but one thing that does seem to not be too buggy is recording TV :-)

As for MAC, it’s only a matter of time before they begin offering this built into the OS as well.

Don’t know how long this product will be able to exist once people upgrade to newer computer systems which come with this feature built-in.
