If you’re into trance, house, or clubbing, chances are you’re familiar with Ministry of Sound and how big a force it is in the scene. Thus, it comes as no surprise that it’s looking to capitalize on Apple’s popular digital music player, the iPod.
Ministry of Sound has released a new iPod Case dubbed the iPod Sound Pocket. It’s $49 and has a built-in speaker, a lanyard, and the ability to fit all full-size iPod models.
You can even stand it up by using the front-flap on the case. Oh, and you’ll need two AAA batteries to power this 0.6-watt system. Any clubber who has an iPod should be placing their order right about now.

Ministry of Sound are a fantastic “group”… what they should do though is include a free download of some of their most popular music with every purchase of their merchandise… my bet is that would boost sales with little to no additional cost to them other then bandwidth… it may even open up a whole new audience to their amazing music.

This case would defeat the slim look of the Ipod with its bulky addition. I think an external speaker and a separate external speaker would make for a better purchase. But for fifty bucks, this isn’t that bad of a purchase.

These External speaker cases for ipods are so stupid. If I wanted to listen to the crappy music everyone listens to at the bus stop I’d have it on my own iPod. The speakers are too small for a party or at the beach, it’s just big enough for teens in big pants to listen to their crappy music loud enough to annoy me while I wait for the 44 to take me to the bowling alley. I’m sure they wouldn’t want to listen to my music either, thats why I wear headphones.
This product gets rated crap on the scale of 1 to crap.

Weird how it’s for the older 4th generation iPods.

I bought a case that could stand like that thinking I’d use it while watching video. Used it for a month then ebayed it.
There are no good iPod cases. I bought the one I’m using now from http://www.sfbags.com. Like it, but don’t love it.

I agree with Jon, add some Ministry of Sound tracks to the package and it brings a value-add over the dozens of other cases in the market.
$49 is also fairly cheap for MoS. Their merchandise is usually very pricey.

How is it powered? It looks like the speaker just plugs into the headphone jack instead of the universal extension thingy

I feel kinda betrayed by this, considering how much I listen to MoS’s Annual collections. :( Like Jon said, adding some tracks would soften the obvious blow, but still - portable speakers are more annoying to others than practical to yourself.
