It will be a cool day when you can just sit back in your chair, wave your arms in the air, twitch your fingers, and type your thesis without touching a thing. It’s not far off.
Although all these wonderful features are great, God gave me big fingers that have a hell of a time conforming to small things like cell phones - RIM products look great but they are simply not made for people like me :-(
Why don’t these guys realize that there are some people out there with stubby fingers with some meat on them and create more distance between their buttons and make the buttons BIGGER to begin with!
The virtual joystick does sound like a cool feature - do you know how easy it is to move - if you got to press down on the top edge to go “up” then I am back at square one… half the screen will be covered by my thumb, rendering this feature useless!
I am interested in knowing how it would respond to ambient light. Are there any issues with it in well lit rooms. Invisible woman would have quite a difficult time using one of these.
I still fail to see the benefit of an optical joystick on a cell phone except for the aesthetic reasons and as an innovation. I think it would correlate to increased sales but how does the consumer benefit?

PS at first glance the chicks hand seemed to be blending with her shirt and I thought she was flipping me the bird. It’s gonna be a long day.
Considering where the product is being released, it’s easy to see that their main focus isn’t the person with well-endowed fingers. :( But, the whole cursor-like-a-mouse deal does seem interesting.
I’d have to give it a try personally before I’d be sold on it.

Optical mice, optical joysticks. What’s next?
I’m thinking we should have optical keyboards. Wait! We already have those: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2002/09/23/let_there_be_light/

… flipping you the bird OR better yet, giving you a hidden message of the first word you will say if you try to use this product with stubbed fingers.
