Skype Promo [Chosunilbo]

  • How is this news? You can already do it free Skype —> Skype… it takes a few seconds to get your relatives to download the program and the quality is great! If they don’t want to download Skype then it’s one less present I need to buy for Christmas ;-)

  • Well Jon, this is for Skype to anything(cell phones, landlines, etc) for 10 days.

  • Hi Peter, that’s why I mentioned the skype to skype on purpose… I think people should use this opportunity to switch them away from landlines to skype as the technical support would be at no cost (free landlines etc). Then after 10 days, it’s not “wait till the next promotion to talk to you” it’s will be “talk to you tomorrow on skype”.

  • Fair enough but not everyone is at their computer all day like we are.

  • I actually this is really good news. As Peter said, not everyone is at their computer all day long like some of us are. And even so, I don’t want to have to tell my relatives to get in front of their computer on Christmas day just to hear my voice. Now I can skype from my phone over Sprint EVDO to my friends in Japan and my relatives in the Caribbean without having to tell them to turn their computer.

How long is eBay going to continue footing the bill for Skype, though?

  • My mail-order bride will be calling me next Tuesday… for free.

  • Hi Kurt, this promotion, 10 days… but long term… my guess for at least a few years… it doesn’t cost them anything for each phone call as it’s VoIP, so others like Ma Bell are the ones who are footing the bill indirectly unless the FTC gets their hands in there after the telcos scream loud enough.

Free phone/voice/video has finally come and will be here to stay… I got rid of all my phones and am 100% skype based… saving me a bundle!

    Jon
