The funniest thing about this device, as Jon pointed out, is that we're totally going to be seing these on the geekiest mods ever known to man (It's a Flamethowing death-bot powered by 10 compacts in parallel!)

But seriously, make a manlier version of the case (with a wood trim, oh yeah), and that's a pretty nifty product.

http://www.globalsourcesdirect.com/servlet/the-1560/Solar-Mobile-Phone-Charger/Detail

Apparently there is also an LED flashlight, plus charging adapter for Nokia, Motorola, Samsung and SonyEricsson included.

All in all, it looks like a rechargable battery with a few solar panel glued into the circuit to provide power when needed. My only question so far is how long does it take to charge the built in battery by solar power alone?

Not too bad, I wonder if you can jerry rig a couple of these to charge a laptop like Jon mentioned.

I love this idea... just wish it had MORE POWER so I could charge up larger devices... like a laptop (while working on it). Although marketing to the "girls"... I would be fine carrying this around as a guy.

Jacki:

After the solar power compact, will come solar power jewelry, from rings to necklaces to earrings. Brilliant!
