Spion Orbitor Electronic Listening Device for the Devious

I was browsing Uncrate this morning when I stumbled upon the Spion Orbitor Electronic Listening Device. While it’s nothing new, it managed to call forward a horde of memories that were repressed somewhere between my first kiss (don’t ask) and my freshman P.E. class.(ditto).

When I was a kid my uncle gave me one of these things and I used to terrorize the neighborhood with it. Long story short, I heard a lot of things I probably shouldn’t have at such a young and impressionable age.

Anyway, if you’re looking for a gift sure to cause some emotional scaring on some kid in your life, look no further. The Spion Orbitor Electronic Listening Device can be had for just $60 from Sharper Image. And you can follow-up this gift next year with some vouchers for therapy.

Doesn’t this come with a bonus pair of x-ray glasses?

Think of the possibilities of bundling this device with the phone camera zoom lens. It makes it bulky to carry everything but you could record and upload some interesting things….

Maybe this should be sent to CondeNast…the girls have their scrapbooks, the guys get “personalized p()rn” offerings!!

I had one of these when I was a kid… one night I pointed it in the direction of my parents room and ever since then… have been traumatized! These things come from Satans’ workshop!

My only question is… where is the USB plugin to record what you got so you can extort money from the neighbours?

There was a thing on the news about football coaches using these to learn the other teams calls. They’d record with one of these mikes and play it back along with the video of the game to learn what calls would go with what play.

Sadly I don’t need one of these to listen to my ugly neighbor watch porn. gross.

Man, when I have kids, I’m definitely getting one of these so they can’t sneak around and do things behind my back.

I kinda fear getting one of these, considering I’m planning to go to college in San Francisco. And if I need to elaborate on that for anyone, you don’t want to know. :o

Let me guess - you’re a voyeur? :P

I’m pretty sure there’s a bunch of stuff on the internet about _seriously_ boosting the effectiveness of those “spy kids” $10 listening devices you see at every toy shop. Wish I could remember the name, because I can’t find it anywhere online any longer.

Does anyone know if you can get the same effect by making a paper cone and sticking a microphone in the right place?

Well I was thinking about getting something like this for my nephew…but now that I think about it I am not sure. I want something that makes it seem like it is working but something that is not gonna give him the ability to make out words…just murmurs. Anyhow, does this thing actually work???? Maybe I should re-think my purchase.

???

What causes the feedback on these?
