I’ve been netflix since the beginning as well. I once had the $19.99 for 4 movies but was stupid and at one point downgraded to 2. Now I’m doing the $19.99 for 3 movies :(

But the good thing is for the bay area, the distribution center is Los Gatos, if I put it in the mail on Monday, they get it either same day or next, and ship out next day. I usually get the movie then wed. So 2 days is not bad.

Combined with Taiyo Yuden DVD-R’s…. You only need to keep netflix movies for a day.

I’ve been a Netflix user since the early days (1999), and have a “grandfathered” account (I get 4 out at a time for the price of 3.)

However, I’ve been giving Blockbuster a second chance (tried them when they first started online rentals, and wasn’t satisfied.) I like the fact that I can return a movie in-store and take home another on the spot. Also, the extra free in-store rental per month in nice, particularly since it can be used for games. I’ve added my entire Netflix queue (currently about 110 movies) into Blockbuster, and there weren’t any that Blockbuster doesn’t stock.

So, although I’ve been a loyal Netflix customer since almost the beginning, and have no complaints, I think I’ll be canceling my account soon. The free in-store movie/game rental and in-store return put Blockbuster over the top.

I’m for Akimbo. They have the best and most Anime available on TV and its affordable (way cheaper than cable). Downloads are really fast and now they’ve got Movielink. Its like Netflix only, like this century. And with the stuff I actually want to watch. Later Comcast; cya Netflix.

Since I’m not a big movie buff, I’d have to choose the only one that I’ve actually used – Cable Video-on-Demand. However, I want to try services like Netflix, but the lack of cash flow in my life has properly negated that. D:

For now netflix has my vote. Hopefully in the near future, we can download movies online as soon as they leave theateres.

Not sure I “like” any of them. Use Blockbuster. Been thinking of trying NetFlix but as soon as I hear someone talking about how good it is, I hear someone else talking about how much it sucks. What’s a girl to do?

I was in a similar situation with Mike, but then I quit. Of course I quit about 3 months ago (before returning back to school), so I’m not running on an DVD video service right now, because mechanical engineering is eating my brain, but reading about BlockBuster that sounds like a pretty sweet deal for those who still live near brick/mortar blockbusters. I thought BlockBuster had closed most of the ones down in my area, but there’s one several miles away, so maybe if I’m back home this summer I’ll try BB out.

But I’m still waiting for video on demand. To my brain.

As Mike was a co-founder of Zip.ca, I can only say good things from it as I enjoyed the service until we both came to an understanding that they where not making money off my membership. I would return movies the same day I got them ;-) Zip.ca is the Canadian equivalent to Netflix in the USA btw.

Video on demand… I don’t know… the quality just isn’t there and not having an IP originating from the USA, blacked out of many of these services… video store is still better as far as I am concerned. Video on demand through cable is good too but they selection or lack thereoff is a problem they have yet to solve.

So John, I vote none ;-)
