Returns? PS3? I had to read the article 2x… anyways, I don’t expect people to return them en mass giving all the rest of us, creating a new valuable distribution model for the rest of us wanting to get our hands on one of these. Interesting though how the guys wanting to make a quick buck are realizing it’s not always as easy as it seems… the tide has turned now… the leaders made their money and the followers are eating the dirt they left behind :-)

Quite a few people I know are pretty soar on Sony and their PS3, with the additional cost of Blu-Ray bundled in and their “Production Problems” which caused shortages anyway. Nintendo has and probably will continue to reap the benefits of Sony’s “It’s my ball and I’m going home” mentality.
Best wishes,
Kimmy
Sony was simply in a rush to get to market… more so then Wii (which did have some problems by the way). If Sony missed this holiday season, retailers would have gone out and replaced their broom sticks with M9s and gone hunting for Sony.
To be fair, Sony is WAY AHEAD on the console market, for at least the next 5 years if not more – which is exactly what they had to do to win back their customers (not that XBox ever did any real damage)… right now they are paying for it (with subsidies) but soon, they will be making money hand over fist… PS2 is a but a glimpse of what the market potential is for the ultimate winner in the console market… my hat is in the direction of PS3! Paying for blue-ray does “suck” but to be honest, the quality is astounding, time to throw out your DVD collection and replace it with Blue-ray (now, there is a conspiracy of enormous proportions).

Can I just tell you how angry I was that out of the 17 people that were at the front of the line the night I got my PS3, I was the only one not trying to flip it and sell it on ebay? I have no sympathy for these people who are finding the need to return it. None whatsoever.
And the use case for a PS3 and a Wii are completely different. Every naysayer out there saying that Nintendo is going to kill Sony are speaking a little too soon. How quickly people forget about the launch issues MS had last year. And now everyone is singing the praises of the 360.
Haven’t many critized the 360 for lacking enough driving titles? MS and the 360 have only gotten a few big name games released so far, Gears of War being the most recent one, and Halo 3 pending. I think MS will need to start upping the ante with its own game selection, following on both the Sony and Nintendo way. Sony has dropped the ball most recently because they’ve been so reluctant to help 3rd party developers that many video game producers are dropping exclusivity in their games with PS3 and opening the markets to everyone.
There’s a special place in Hell for scalpers, but I can’t feel too sorry for anyone that forks over a grand for a game box. For that matter I think anyone who pays five c’s for one is a little loopy.
Jon, the problem with M$ XBox “brand” is that it has NEVER made any money, it’s being subsidized each time you purchase XP, Vista or Office products… so you, whether you want to or not… are paying to keep the Xbox afloat. If it wasn’t for M$ deep pockets, this console never would have seen the light of day… regarding games, the publishers produce games for the consoles with the largest market share… PS2 has gynormous 100M consoles out there… so there are almost as many games then comments I have made on CrunchGear ;-)
I wouldn’t be surprised if XBox had far lower “console licensing fees” then Sony simply to lower the bar for game publishers to make more games… otherwise, it isn’t worth their while.
Think of it this way… are you sick and tired of paying the RIAA every time you purchase a blank CD to backup your files… well, you are doing the same thing each time you purchase a M$ product. Think about it next time you go to your local store and buy something with their name on it.

PS3 and Wii can both be market leaders; just different markets. One for gamers and one for families. It is amazing to watch Sony and Nintendo extend their platforms so successfully. When would the XBox ever have something beyond the 360? don’t say WinME!
Sony and Nintendo platforms get people for the long term – there may be a little shifting of the market but these 2 companies are both winners.
BTW; when you get the refurb PS3 does it come with some Zune pr()n???
As long as the refurbs come with some sort of warranty (from either Sony or the store), I don’t see anyone complaining. In fact, I don’t really see anyone complaining even if there wasn’t a warranty. XD The people that want a PS3 that bad would buy it regardless, especially if they’re not sure *why* they’re buying it in the first place. :D
It doesn’t surprise me. I was downtown today and there were signs plastered all over the place for brand new 60Gig PS3s for $850CDN (that’s about $100 markup after taxes) – only one of them was missing those number things at the bottom.
It’s pretty straightforward that the PS3 needs good games to sell. Not everyone’s into Resistance or Ridge Racer, which are pretty much the only games that sell the system. And there’s only so much photo viewing and blue-ray playing one can do before getting bored
I figure it will be at least a year before any absolutely astounding games even starting to capture the capabilities that the PS3 actually has start rolling out… they are still making PS2 games that look great! The more these publishers get comfortable with the console… over years… the better they learn to tweek their programing to the hardware – optimizing every ounce of power they can.

The guy that wrote this artice hates SNE so bad he almost busted a nail typing it. These types of articles are written simply to cause sensation and spread hatred toward a particular system because yours has been DOMINATED for so long. B!tcH
