Good news for those of you who are loyal to Samsung. Opera announced today that they’ve partnered with Samsung Electronics so that all future cellphones include the mobile version of Opera’s web browser. Opera’s browser for mobile devices has unique technology that scales websites down to fit the user’s screen. You can then browse pages using the joypad on your mobile phone. I used to have Opera Mini installed on my W800i and it actually worked very well.

Lets see, Opera on Wii, Opera on Sansung products… I must admit, they are moving in a direction that even I couldn’t have predicted. They cannot compete against Firefox nor EI but I think they have found their niche… that is, until the other big two realize the potential and sign deals of their own.
I wonder how long it will be before we find Opera on LG, Sony etc… tomorrow?

They are also on Nintendo DS, and all (or most) Motorola phones, and included as the default browser in UIQ phones. UIQ has just been bought by SonyEricsson so that OS will probably become their smartphone OS of choice.

Anon pointed out that Opera is useable on Nintendo DS, but you have to buy a cartridge to use it due to the lack of internal space. :( And it’s not even for sale in the states yet.

Opera is definitely making some moves. Anything that helps navigating the web on a mobile device is a step in the right direction. Wonder how it will actually improve user experience?
