Sony is taking ridiculous to a whole new level – apparently they just have too much money to work with.

And I bet $2500 still wont buy you rumbling controllers.

The source doesn’t look that authentic, so it could just be an attempt at putting a price on an absurd idea; not to mention that these updates are all incremental and don’t look to be that expensive – the kind of stuff you might see on Rev.2 of the PS3

Just wondering though, isn’t the PS3 good enough A/V wise as it stands? It outputs blu-ray to 1080p via HDMI, after all – how much higher-end can you get then that? The software may not yet be in place, but the hardware is plenty capable of allowing for music & movie downloads, data transfer to and from camcorders/cameras/mp3 players. I really don’t see what else they could do with the device to make it more media centric.

I actually quite like this idea – we’re seeing the gaming industry take advantage of the many different segments that exist for consumers. Why not position itself as a niche high-end console?

With Nintendo at the other end and XBox in the middle, we could have room for some great innovations at all levels….

Well… Nintendo is coming out with better and marked down version of its Wii in a few months from now… why not PS3? Although the current price tag is already pretty high… I would have to wait to see what the PS3B has… maybe it offers so much stuff on it (you can get rid of your pc, ipod doc etc.) that it would become a no brainer to get it. Devil is in the details…

Just absurd enough to work! Just kidding. Seems like Sony is trying to flex its technology muscles, showing for how much crap they can cram into a console.

Interesting move, but I doubt this will ever been given a green light given Sony’s problems with the current PS3. Might make a cool promotional tool though for a new PS3 campaign.
