If you hate Apple, Microsoft and any other company that makes an MP3 player out there and want something a bit different, check out the Cubisto from MobiBLU. This little guy is small enough to carry around your neck or in your pocket comfortably and has the same unique cube design that the company’s previous players had and can play WMA and MP3 files. Battery life seems to be pretty decent too—around 8 hours.
Plus, they come pretty cheap; you can grab the 1GB version for $90 and the 2GB version for $110. A great gift for someone who isn’t into the norm but still wants to listen to their music on the go.

I like it… but what are the dimensions of this cube? I can’t find them on the link you provided… I like the price point and the option to play MANY formats on it… battery life isn’t half bad considering what you get. Instead of “straight to the incinerator”, I rate this product “worthy of store space”.

Jon: it’s a 1″ cube!
Thanks Jon Lee… how they can fit 2GB in a 1 inch cube is astounding feat of engineering… I REALLY like it now! Hopefully it doesn’t become a prize for next Friday ;-)

You know what I like about my ipod? Its easy to control it through my pocket w/o actually whipping it out, and it doesnt protrude out like something is growing on my thigh. Sorry, mobiBLU. Im not wearing you around my neck either.
bpm: this is definitely not for everyone. I think it looks cool, and it’s market niche is for those who want to play around with something neat and not everyday. It’s a unique item, has quite a few non-ipod features, and for a 1″ cube, it’s a pretty slick deal!
Just think bpm2000… you could flick out the diamond on an engagement ring and put this in its place… when ever your fiance wants to “talk”… she can do so and it can play a record message saying “I care greatly about what you have to say… thanks for sharing your emotional baggage with me”… then you are no longer disturbed when playing your PS3 or Wii ;-)

I can’t seem to find any details on this online, but maybe someone here knows… is that a 1″ screen on the side of that picture (the part that says mobyBlue). I know it’s quite unlikely, but that would be a pretty cool feature for the device.
As much as I love Apple’s products, I still don’t buy into the idea that an MP3 player can operate properly with just |>| navigation. I tend to rip my CDs and keep the good and the bad, so being able to pick and choose music is essential to me. I’ve noticed that most of the people that I’m around also have that packrat tendency – disk space is cheap, so why not keep a perfect copy for when you do want to listen to a cd cover to cover?
Somehow I dont think thats gonna fly Jon ;).
And Ill never buy a ps3, ever. But thats another article alltogether.
