Rumored Apple Cinema Display: HDMI, iSight (??)

The Apple Cinema displays haven’t been updated since 2004, leading Apple wonks to believe that the company will upgrade their monitor line with iSight cameras, HDMI for protected content playback and some sort of Front Row integration with a remote. Will any of this happen? Who knows. Steve wouldn’t return our calls and the cookie basket we sent him was returned with a spattering of chicken blood on it. We shall see.

  • Never got an Apple Cinema Display nor do I care… they are overpriced and the design is so-so…. what they need to concentrate on is hardware, not silly displays which I can buy for a fraction of the price elsewhere.

  • Ah, but people buy apple so much for the name – that’s what they rely on. If you are an apple geek, it doesn’t matter how substandard they are. For instance, look at the iPod. You can get much better mp3/video player type devices out there. Ones that not only do all the iPods ever do, but more such as radio, etc. So why do people still buy iPods?

    The name. And their sexy…

  • What overhyped overpriced stuff. You can get a Dell monitor for about 40% less. Albeit no where as close in terms of looks.

If you are going for style and decor, apple wins everytime. If you are looking for cost/quality ratio, it’s gonna always be somewhere else.

As for HDMI, I doubt it given the IPTV coming out is only outputting 640×480 and movies from itunes is nowhere near dvd quality.
