Scorpion Watch Company Reef Diver

Just got in the new Scoripion Reef Diver for review. This is a custom-made automatic watch created by a couple of guys in Denver and it’s quite a looker. It has an automatic ETA movement with hacking seconds hand — that means the seconds hand stops when you pull out the crown — and is water resistant to 30ATM or 1000 feet. They’ve only made 100 of the red Reef Divers, but they’ll probably be hitting up the factory in a little while for more. It’s completely signed — crown, case, and buckle all say Scorpion — and quite striking.

Initial impressions: it’s quite light, but that’s fine, and the $799 price tag might turn some folks off. However, if you’re in the market for a diving watch that no one else has, this is up there in the top 3 microbrew, US-based models.

  • That is a pretty slick looking watch. I don’t know much about diving, but I’m guessing the super big hands and hour marks are for easy visibility down in the deep depths of the sea. Styling wise it looks pretty nice, but for 800 dollars, it sure is lacking in gizmos and gadgets. Lets see a helium escape valve or a decompression chamber!

  • I really like the watch… but what does the strap look like John? Can you take a picture of it on your wrist so we can get some idea as to size and scale?

  • It is a black rubberized plastic strap. I’m guessing pretty much like every other diving watch made…
