While this may be nice for the consumers. I personally think one format should die and it should be Sony’s. The format is superior yes – but closed and introduces a significant vendor dependency which is always bad for the consumer.

Rocks; but at what cost? The key here will be license fees and how much they charge for the dual format. I agree with Paul G; one of these should die because the consumer cost will be in the content. I almost thought of them competing like CDMA/GSM but in that case the Carrier is picking up the handset cost, not the consumer.
