Netgear Drops HD Set-Top Box for Wireless Streaming
by Matt Hickey on January 8, 2007

What’s remarkable about the Digital Entainer HD is that besides the standard def content you might have, it also supports the HD content that should be rolling out this year, connecting to your HDTV via HDMI for resolutions up to 1080p. Now there’s a few acronyms in there, but the short of it is download high-def, rip high-def, play back high-def.

No pricing announced, but we should have more news later in the week, as things at CES are just getting started, and you know our road crew are there to work for you. Yours truly, however, remains here at CrunchGear HQ to keep things grounded while my colleagues are enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of Las Vegas.

  • That’s pretty sweet. Depending on the pricing and the consumer/product coupling, NetGear might be able to secure a pretty decent slice of Apple iTV pie. Not mention the styling is very subtle and very nice.

Thanks for reporting from the home front Matt, and think of it this way, you have all this free time to spend on number one… CrunchGear readers! Nows the time to shine!

  • Awesome. I’ve been wanting to get that pc out of my livingroom ever since I put it there. This would be an excellent replacement and is something I’ve been looking for.

So, Matt’s running the show now? Uh, oh…

  • This is one sweet looking device!! I’ve been following the various other products in that segment, Slingbox, Hava, and any other kind of wired or wireless media streaming product. This one looks definitely like one of the more promising ones. Can’t wait until a full-fledged review of the features and actual performance pops up somewhere..
