when my wireless router dies and I’m sure it will i will get one.
I have a new MacBook Pro and so was excited to hear the 802.11n news. I noticed the following footnote on the apple site wrt to new Extreme: “Speed and range will be less if an 802.11a/b/g product joins the network.”
Does this mean that when my 802.11g Airport Express stations connect to the new Extreme, the whole network will have to run at a slower speed?
So, selfishly, and lazily, since I don’t want to try to figure it out myself, and because maybe others are like me:
I currently use an Airport Extreme (domed species) with Comcast to provide high-speed Internet to 3 Macs (2 Powerbooks and 1 MacBookPro, plus 2 PCs, both Dell D810s, all on the network simultaneously and usually working with email, text files, multimedia files, and a few uploads, with occaisional fun stuff like movies being uploaded to my .Mac site (but not too often). So, do I buy the new one now and replace my existing one and if I do, what will get better? I’ll decide if it is worth it after I hear from a few folks *:-) Thanks for listening.
