My roommate just showed me these two videos and it tripped me out soooo much I just had to show you guys. Whether you’ve seen them before or not be amazed! The first is a pool full of corn starch and the second has to do with magnets.

Edit: I’ve added a third video that has something to do with Sulfur Hexafluoride

  • holy sh*t man this stuff is soooooooo awesome, I have seen the first one with corn starch, but the second one is really phenomenal. It reminds me a little bit of the spiderman 3 commercials where Venom takes over him. Great great stuff here. It makes me want to own a small vile of magnetic liquid. I don’t know quite why, but it does

  • Peter, Peter, Peter. THIS IS FANTASTIC! THANK YOU.

  • Ferrofluids, I made some over the summer. it is pretty easy to do. If anyone wants some instructions, just post here and I’ll send them over. The lines represent the actual magnetic field lines emanating from the magnet.

It is pretty neat stuff, developed by NASA. They wanted to use it for it’s hyper cooling abilities, but it turns out that it’s great for (sound) speakers too. It is used in the drivers for the cones.

The problem with the stuff is that it isn’t very good to touch because of the stuff you need to put the solution of magnetic colloids in.

  • Oooo that last one was awesome XD The cornstarch reminds me of making goobleck.

  • #2 reminds me of the slime creature that killed Denise Crosby on Star Trek Next Gen during season 2
