Just what everyone needs. Something much bigger and clumsy than what it replaces. Great stock to short if it is public. There are not enough paranoid or irresponsible people to keep this afloat.

First and foremost, this seems like a rehash of the old Chameleon Card concept a few years back that was begging for partners/investors.

This is basically a consumer card cloner. Won't work for chip and PIN because the chip deliberately protects its own encryption keys and will never give them up.

The idea behind going online with their control/upload application, is to provide a deterrent against Joe Bloggs thief cloning cards in mass that don't have matching names. Won't protect cloning of cards that can't be verified by third party groups such as credit agencies, so customer loyalty cards, ID cards, and control cards are fair game.

There is the not so subtle problem of validity time length for the rewritable magstripe. How long it will stay "Live" after being written is not an easy problem to fix.

The company also claims to support contactless, but that's almost the same problem as chip and PIN, since the original contactless card's chip will resist being copied if it features any protective mechanisms. If it's a simple reply type of contactless card, cloning is easy, but anything like challenge and response, and the cloning will fail.

I saw this at the Consumer Electronic Show in Vegas. Looks very easy to set up. On your computer you register any/all cards you want to carry on the little device. This is done through fingerprint authentication (biometric). You then can have all magnetic striped cards with you and accessible without having to carry them in your wallet, on you keys etc... I think the security is huge, the convenience, and the possibilities with the technology. I'm getting one.

I don't get it....went to their site and the intro looks like they are trying to figure out the market/usability of this through surveys/gatherings in several cities.

Looking at the product features it really doesn't tell you how you would load multiple cards; and how they would be selected when you are at a checkout/cash register.

My belief is that if you are asking people to dramatically change their behavior (one versus many cards) you have to explain the benefit to them (less wallet clutter; never "left that card at home", consolidated rptg?) in a very simple (some would say "sticky") fashion.

BTW; one benefit not described is the "OH SH@@ lost one card and ALL of my financial/health information is STOLEN!!"

How do you write the card? Do you have to stick it in the side of that thing or what?
