Nike: Bye, iPod! Hi, Wristwatch!

When Nike and Apple got together for that weird iPod + Nike shoe thing a while back, we all sort of went, “Well, that’s technically cool, I think.” We’re still debating. Nike, however, is poised to make up its own mind. The shoe guys are dumping the iPod in favor of a gadget watch of its own design, using the same wireless technology to display the data on your writs rather than your DAP.
We’re not sure if this is a finalized idea, we’re sure that for now the iPod integration will continue to sell, if only because Nike must love the brand recognition. But this also means Nike might be opening up the doors to a whole line of products to work with the little in-shoe sensors. Nike + Zune, anybody?

What they need to do is combine all three. Have the watch control the DAP and also display the vital stats. Either way, I still think this is a waste of “smart shoe” technology. What we need is a shoe that actually analyzes your motion and movement and then intelligently adjusts to support you. Doing this statistic stuff is little better than what we had in the eighties.

Check it out.
Just so you know, Nike has been doing a foot pod + watch speed/distance monitor for years now. It just didn’t catch on very well because it was expensive.
They ran about $200, and I’ve had one since 2001.
If you have a Nike + iPod and want to display you workout info on your website check out my tool…

Why would you buy this watch? Seems dumb because most people will use the iPod for running even if it didn’t have the Nike+ tool. Having Nike + iPod is the ultimate running gadget. I think the watch will flop!
^^ Check out this tool for showing Nike + iPod workout information on your own website
IT SEEMS THE NIKE WATCH WOULD GO GOOD WITH THE WATCH-ET WRISTWATCH GUARD
I have to agree the nike + ipod gadget is pretty cool. Hey I checked out that “WATCH-ET” website, man that protective cover thing is interesting could be the next cool thing to protect your nike + ipod watch.
