Canon Intros Two New PowerShot A-Series Models
by Vince Veneziani on January 18, 2007

Cannon today announced two new entry-level cameras that will be available in mid-February: The PowerShot A550 (bottom) and PowerShot A460 (top). Both cameras are pretty cheap at $199 and $149 (respectively), but they both use AA batteries instead of nice rechargeable Li-On batteries. The A550 is a 7.1-megapixel camera that uses SD, MMC, or SDHC cards, uses Canon’s DIGIC II image processing, can shoot 30fps movies, 4x optical zoom, a 2-inch LCD, and power saving options.

The A460 is 5.0-megapixels and pretty much packs everything the A550 does except it doesn’t do movies. The A460 is targeted at first-time digital camera buyers and with a 5.0-megapixel costing only $150, we doubt you can go wrong with this one.
