Rubik’s Cube MP3 Player Concept
by Vince Veneziani on January 18, 2007

Those of you who aren’t too great with puzzles/audio need not apply here. This concept MP3 player from Yanko Design is based on the ever-popular Rubik’s Cube that we all failed miserably at when we were kids.

But it’s not just a cute MP3 player, you actually need to solve the puzzle to perform certain functions. For instance, twisting the top part to the right may skip a track forward, while turning it backward may go to the previous song. The kicker? To turn the device off, you need to solve the puzzle. Guess that new Journey CD must be real rockin’ the 8th time around.

  • Solve the puzzle, what are you talking about? From the screenshots above you can clearly see that the middle part with the display is solid, so there are basically only three parts, the top row, the middle row, and the bottom row, and all you can do is move them to the left or right. Not much to solve there!! That’s also kinda what the two shots with the locked and unlocked symbol suggest.

  • Can I unload a little bit more? All this is is some designer’s two-hour 3DS Max project, nothing more. There is no concept, no product, nothing there, and it will never exist unless somebody even more stupid picks it up and produces it.

Maybe it’s just me that when I see something posted on CG I take it too seriously.
