Wii Wii Sunday

I got a Wii, I got a Wii, I got a Wii, I got a Wii, I got a Wii!!!

If you missed Vince’s post then chances are you missed getting a Wii this weekend if you were in the market for one that is. The gf and I picked one up at the 86th street Best Buy in Manhattan this morning and boy was I surprised there were still some left as we got there around 10:30 and there was already a line of people waiting but we decided to wait to see what happened and we were lucky #39. According to the Best Buy folks I spoke with people had only started lining up at 10.

Here in Twin Falls, Idaho - we were at Best Buy when they opened at 10. No lines or anything - and a giant puddle of Wii in the game section. We were not there to get a Wii, though. We were after the more elusive WiiMote. And we scored! Been on the hunt since Christmas… thanks for the heads up with the post - right on!

I had some trouble connecting to the InterWebs from my Wii - no matter how close I placed it to my router, it wouldn’t connect. I eventually had to spend 40 bucks for a WiFi USB connector from Nintendo.
It was, however, worth it. Super Mario just doesn’t feel right on your computer.

Best Buy in State College, PA (Penn State), 2 people got in line at 11PM, 3 people at 12AM, 2 more at 4:30AM and I got there at 5AM. They had 24 and I could have slept in for an extra two hours or so because my buddy, who got there at about 8AM was about 18th in line.

Yes the elusive Wii mote, I’ve been trying to find one for a few days now and we just got plain lucky allin one day.

Whenever I try to connect to the Wii store it just sits there and says it’s trying to connect. I’m wondering whether or not plugging it right into the router will make a difference or not. I was able to successfully get to the store front once and then it just sat there trying to connect. The gf wanted mario and zelda and I want donkey kong! Grrrrr. I’m wii’d out for the day, time to watch the game.

Went this morning. There is a Circuit City/Best Buy/Gamestop all within 5 mins of me here in NJ. Woke up later then i wanted….drinkin last night. Got there at 11:15. All places opened 11. All places sold out. Bleh. I really dont get the economics of creating these supply shortages. Hopefully won’t have to wait another month for next shipment.

Hi yall - this has nothing to do with todays sales of the Wii, but back in December. I stayed up all night and woke my mom up at 4 AM so we could go wait for a Wii, the store didnt open up till 9 AM. Well anyways when I arrived I was like 27 in line…and then they started handing out tickets at like 8 AM. Well I didnt get one, apparently all these greedy people in line got like 2-3 tickets per family and walked out with 2-3 systems. I would’ve gotten one if it wasn’t for those greedy jerks. But anyways my older brother was nice enough, he went on Ebay and bought one for $500 just to make me happy - I mean he cheered me up instantly, I didnt ask him to do this or anything. So I’ll never stop thanking him - he said maybe when they are more widely available he’ll get one for himself (since he’s in the Air Force and is in Florida instead of Texas)

Ummm ok, you got yourself a pretty nice brother.

Had one on launch day. It really wasn’t difficult to get a Wii…in fact, on launch day, I walked out of my local GameStop with a Wii, an extra Wiimote and nunchuck, and copies of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Rayman Raving Rabbids, and Trauma Center: Second Opinion.

All I did was reserve them. It was that easy.

Nintendo blogs all over the Internet announced when GameStop would start taking preorders. I camped out, along with 20 other people, and was there early enough to secure a preorder a few weeks before the Wii came out. Done.

Not sure why more people didn’t take that route.

Probably because no one anticipated the PS3’s being such POS.

Went to Best Buy. They were expecting to get 26, but had actually received 0.

Went to Target. No dice.

Went to Costco, which someone had reported seeing ‘em at on Saturday. Nothing.

This is stupid. Couldn’t Nintendo have allowed their registered long term customers the chance to buy 1 console? Instead, we get assholes buying 6 of them from Best Buy and scalping them on eBay.

You should look up nintendowifi.com for help on setting up the wii online.

The wifi usb dongle doesn’t work with macs or several ISPs. There is a hack for making it work with AOL.

Note if you do have a comptabile ISP with the dongle make sure you download the recent software drivers from the nintendowifi.com website instead of using the ones on the cd-rom that came with the dongle.

I figured I’ll just wait another 2 months when they are flush in the market and grab one at costco..
