Ergopod 500: For the ComputerSloth in Your Life

There are days when a setup like this seem pretty agreeable to me. Avoid the world! Stay in bed all day. The thought flits in-and-out, namely when Biggs yells at me, but in the end I typically summon the conclusion that something like this would be really bad for me.

If, however, you’re disabled and unable to make use of a traditional desk then have a look at the Ergopod 500. There are all sorts of accessories like that cool LCD arm shown and a phone tray. It’ll set you back about $4,000 plus accessory costs, but it allows you to make use of your computers while sitting or supine, which I would imagine is a small price to pay for functionality.

Damn, those screens are better mounted properly before I lay down in bed with three displays hovering over my face. First I thought the shot was taken from above and the guy was leaning against the wall, until I saw the wheels and figured out that he is actually lying down and the keyboard, mouse, and screens are actually tilted by 90 degrees to accomodate that. I imagine this could become strenous for your arms quickly, as you’ll have to hold them up all the time, which is not good for blood flow (which is important if you have to stay in bed for any reason other than laziness).

good point on bloodflow…also i would worry about vertigo/disorientation, especially if watching movies or games (this might be something you can train yourself to get used to). it looks hard to get into and out of - important because its not just for disabled folks, but professionals too. great idea but i wonder how practical. some reviews would be nice.
