  • Sanctumus: the latest firmware has solved the issues you describe.

Jo: you can have the directory structure any way you want it.

    Cheers,
    Col

  • I’m sold except for one thing.

I’ll be copying music in and out of this thing a lot, and I want to know how to tell if a track has been played, or if tracks can be deleted on the fly or marked for deletion later somehow (that’s what I use the ratings for on the ipod). I don’t want to listen to the same tracks over and over.

I haven’t used Windows Media Player much, but will it keep track of these things on the Sansa? Is there some sort of playlist or rating feature to separate my music from my daughter’s music?

    thanks for your help.

  • I just bought got mine today from Amazon.com. My friend had done plenty of research on mp3s before he suggested that I buy the Sansa Express. This was his best choice and he is going to buy it soon. The earphones are uncomfortable, but everything else is perfect. Well, not really, because the lanyard gets tangled with the headphone wires a lot. I am waiting for accessories to come out so I can hang the Express from a clip or something.

  • i love this mp3 but i only have ony have one thing to ask
how do u delete songs???????? plzz some one tell me how to .

  • Hello to all Sensa Express users

I want to add a 2GB MicroSD card to my 1GB Sensa Express.

    My question is:

If I just insert this new 2GB MicroSD card in my 1GB Sensa Express, will I be able to format & read & write directly to the 2GB MicroSD card through the Sensa Express ?

Or do I need to format & read & write to the 2GB MicroSD card directly from my computer.

Unfortunately, I do not have a MicroSD card reader/writer on my PC.

    What to do ?

With all my thanks anc cheers from Montreal

  • I’m looking for a good basic MP3 player and this looks really good, but I use a mac… I did read somewhere that the Sensa wasn’t as compatible with a Mac. Has anyone had any experience with this?

  • Gilray – a microSD comes as a “full size” SD card. The Full size SD is actually an “adaptor” – you slide the microSD out of the full size SD. So providing you have an SD card reader/writer – no problem…

I also suspect (although I don’t know becasue I don’t have a sensa just yet – on order) you’ll be able to “drag and drop” to the MicroSD flash memory via the USB connectivity of the Sensa itself – let me explain better… you plug the sensa into your USB – the Sensa will be recognised as an external “drive” – I would imagine the expanded memory will be a sub-folder of that “drive”… I’m only making an assumption there though!!!

What I’d be interested in knowing is WHAT BIT RATE DOES THE VOICE RECORDER RECORD AT? I had a samsung YP-U2 (very similar in style to the Sandisk Sensa) and it could record at 128 – I’d really like that “quality” again… sadly I washed the Samsung and like an idiot tried to switch it on before it had dried out… it switche don but promptly shorted out and died! Fool!!

  • I got my 1GB Express player @ Circuit City for $49.99 (ask for website price as if 7/22) and was in awe for a week- but then it just went dead. Will return it to CC – hope the second one lasts longer. Found 2GB microSD cards on sale @Buy.com for $20+$6 shipping

  • Does anyone know how to create a folder (like “misc”) or a playlist? It seems like if I copy music to a misc folder, the sansa puts all the tracks into different albums.
    Thanks

  • My Sansa Express went DEAD on me. It worked fine for about 2 weeks, then nothing. Can’t even find it on the computer when I plug it in. This is the second time on my second Sansa. Am I just full of bad luck? Or are Sansa products really crappy?

  • sansa express can be change to msc mode by
•Plug in your device. It should be recognized by the system and installed as an MTP device the first time you plug it in.

•Be sure to check the box beside Show compatible hardware.
•Highlight USB Mass Storage Device, Next.
    Complete
    Hope this may help u

  • are sansa express made in china?
my sansa doesnt have the word Sandisk on the top of the screen.

  • to jackie,
Are your sansa is turn black after 2 seconds sandisk logo appears when yo turn it on. Just to tell you, this happens to me too… Sob… I perform hard reset but it doesnt make any different. However, i complain this to Sandisk.

There’s a way to help you, hope it help.
So I bought an microsd card by sandisk. I plugged the card in and turned it on and voila! It works! I still had all my songs in there. Pls copy all songs back to your pc. Then, format the internal memory just to make sure it wouldn’t screw up again.

Try out this fix before you chuck out your sansa express

  • to jackie,

If your sansa turn on and Sandisk logo appears and shut off 2 seconds later? Hard reset cannot make any different.

pls pluck in a microSD and turn on it.
    It may work.
Copy all your music back to your pc.
    Then, format internal memory.

    Haha,
Mine also have the problem….. and i solve it.

  • I too have had my go dead on me. usually after about 2 or 3 minutes of waiting and playing with buttons, I can get it to turn back on. I thought I might have had a defective device but it looks like it’s not just me. I’m taking it back to BB today anyway for a new one. It’s a shame, of this problem is not fixable. This player has been extremely useful and I’ve enjoyed it for the month or so I’ve had it.

  • own the 1gb version w/ 2gb card for about 6 months now. Replaced the ear buds with better quality.
What i really like is you can use it like a flash drive.
Put homework on it at home and down load it at school.
No need for a cable to connect.

lost it last week, but i’m sure some honest college student will return it, yea right.
will buy new one, 2gb this time plus 2gb card.

  • I want an MP3 player for recording talk radio off the internet. Will this model do that easily or should I keep searching? I also want to be able to connect a speaker to it for listening while gardening.
    Thanks,
    Ginny

  • This mp3 player is a piece of shit. I formatted the 1Gb internal memory as Sansa suggested and now the piece of shit will not turn on. Hard reboot you say? No. My 3 computers won’t even recognize it. Do yourself a huge favor and purchase an ipod. ANY IPOD. I bought the 4GB Nano. Works flawlessly. Remember, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

  • Do not purchase this product. Sandisk makes quality flash thumb drives and SD cards, but terrible mp3 players. Remember, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

  • Got one for my birthday.

the firmware is horible for listening to mp3 audio books (my primary purpose for an mp3 player). if it doesn’t recobnise it as a album, it shoves everythin under unknown album heading, if it does recognise it as being ripped from a CD it in its own heading even if its the only song, so putting stuff into folds doent do anything, the player just shoves them were ever. another big problem for my is the short pause time before shutting down, then it looses its position, not such a big deal when your listening to random music, but when you trying to listen to an audio book, it is intolerable. some of the downloads come as multi hour tracks (yes even the legitamate downloads can be like that)
it does have an audiobook heading, but no folder to put stuff into it. I think its just for audible files or something

I’ll try updating the firmware. too bad rockbox doesn’t suport it.

Also not real impressed with the battery life, but that might be a function shitty earbuds. it was looking like a 1/4 charge or less after non constant use 7 hour day.

maybe I can get a miniUSB to usb adapter to chage it from my phone charger, if I can ever get the firmware to function so I can use it.

If I ever find who stold my Creative Muvu TX, I’ll break thier arms.

  • I like the sansa express the 1 GB version, i have a 1GB microsd card from my phone ….
works pretty well and i like the radio feature
i bought it from sears, be sure you add 1 year warranty cuz da sansa is known for making trouble, i had no trouble yet but just make sure..

  • I love my sansa c200, but can’t figure out how to download music from my iMac onto my player. Any answers, besides buying an ipod (which I would rather not)

    • I got a simple question.

Does the sansa express support microSD cards over 2 GB? I have a 4 GB microSD and i’m wondering if it will work in the express

  • I just wanted to mention that this only works with Windows Media Player 10 and up so 9 and under don’t work.

  • HI! i bought this sansa express device and i transfer one read only file on it when i try to deleate it, it seem to be not deleating it it say write protected it is in the internal memory can some one suggest me how can i deleate this file it is urgent request please. thanking you out there

  • I got one o the 1 gig models about three months ago, maybe a little more.

It’s a decent little thing and does the job, but I could never ever delete anything off it, when I first loaded it up I uploaded the same album three times by mistake, I had to format it and start again to get rid of them.
When uploading lots of songs I would often be told that the device was not responding, I would have to restart the PC to get it working again and upload another 200megs before it stopped working again.
Now it has finally died on me, I have plugged it into the PC and it’s not even coming up as being plugged in, when I pull it out the logo flashes for a few seconds and then it dies.

    • Have you tried a hard reset on the device? Hold down the ‘+’ volume button and press the Select button. That should fix it.

As for the files, I have no problem adding and removing files while the device is connected as UMS (or MSC) device. It’s just like a USB drive in that mode.
