Warming Gloves Use Your Breath For Heat

File this one under “bacteria ridden” and “disgusting”. Apparently some company named Gorgonz(ola cheese?) thinks that the best way for you to keep your hands warm is by blowing hot, stale air from your mouth into the gloves. The gloves then lock in and distribute the heat throughout your hand for killer warmth.

Now call me crazy, but who in the hell wants to blow air on their hands after eating something like Doritos? Why not just make a little pouch above the hand where you can slide one of those disposable hand warmers in? Whatever. These will set you back $34.99 and hand sanitizer isn’t included.

  • Not bad actually. 180s, the parent company, has done well with this and their wrap around ear muffs, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Their two patents on the concepts are here.

  • 180s gave me a pair of these for working one of their events and they are terrible. The warmth lasts about 10 seconds after you blow into them, then the moisture from your breath cools and makes the gloves colder than before you blew into them.

  • Vince, if you’ve ever been skiing/snowboarding, it is so nice to have warm fingers/hands to unlatch your boots/skiis. It’s not for everyone (IE those who live in warmer climates and experience snow occasionally), and I don’t think these are marketed towards everyone.

I’m surprised though that these are rather low quality for skiing or hiking gloves. They don’t look very well insulated, and if they’re only liners, why the heck do they have this feature to begin with I have no idea…

    Just a heads up.

  • Heated gloves with USB connector (!) are available from Comfortable Computing (www.comfortable-computing.com).

  • The write of this is a total dumb ass. If it comes to having my hands staying a little warm when I really need them to then I’d be glad to have these.
