I can't believe people are still hanging on to their contempt toward the GameCube-and its running into the Wii. The truth is Wii is doing better than the 360 and PS3 and some people still can't accept that.

I'm willing to live with the "it's too early to tell" stance taken by many people "in the know" of gaming. Personally, I think it's pretty clear that the PS3 has a lot of ground to make up... as far as I'm concerned, the Xbox 360 and the PS3 are replaceable goods. Exclusive titles will be more and more rare as developers struggle with increasing costs. The Wii gets a bonus here as any game developed on the Wii will be exclusive in its own way.

As far as your own article regarding the Wii, I think you're making an incredible mistake calling all future innovations in gaming as "mini-evolutions." If you think about almost any great company you'll find that their rise to dominance was created by innovations in stagnant industries. What I find most disturbuing though, is that you first announce the death of innovation/revolution in gaming and then call the Wiimote a "baby step." Which is it?

Finally, the piece that I believe most game review sites have missed. The Wii has genuinely been able to expand the "gaming market." In the short two months that I've owned my Wii, I've been requested by many people to play the Wii. These people aren't gamers, they've never owned a console, and they are often women. By expanding upon the philosophy of making gaming a social activity (think 4 controlers vs. 2) gaming has taken another step towards "social acceptability."

Maybe the Wiimote will be a fad lost to the ages or maybe it'll change the face of gaming, but if the holodeck is the eventual goal for gaming (it certainly is for me) then the Wiimote takes a far more significant step forward then HD graphics. My money (literally) is on Nintendo.

P.S. That really is an excellent caption.

You guys should caption your pictures more often. They're pretty funny.

As for profits, give it time, like you guys said in your own articles. The really sweet games haven't come out yet.
