This is one of the better commercials I’ve seen for a gaming system and it wasn’t even made by Nintendo, nor is it in any way official. Created at CGI house Super 78 during “down time,” it’s a perfect blend of impressive CG and tongue-in-cheek humor.
If I were Nintendo, I’d get a hold of the creators and put it on TV ASAP. Some might consider it a little unflattering, but it paints the Wii in an active light, which is exactly what’s so captivating about the system.
What do you all think?

Very nice animation work… Blake, like many things in this world… there is a lot of politics behind what you see and don’t see in media. Just because something is great doesn’t mean a thing unless the right people with proper influence and ability to make a decision see it. Even then, people are heavily invested in outdated ways of thinking and many others have an interest in keeping the status quo no matter what is introduced. As a result, some of the most amazing things we will never see or will be brought to market, I have a friend who has experienced this firsthand - and its sad to see how hard it really is to break into an industry.
Jon
To be honest, I have yet to see a Wii commercial period. So maybe Nintendo needs to start putting out commercials first? Or maybe putting them into the most important market of all times, the 15 - 35 year olds.
I did like the commercial, but the last bit “hold on tight” wouldn’t make that much sense to someone who has never heard or read about the initial Wiimote problems IMO. In addition, maybe more cues about the actual games (besides the sounds, which were very good) would make it a little easier to decipher. But then again, part of why I liked this commercial so much was because it was so simple, with all the attention focused on the motion aspect of the Wiimote and Nunchuck.
Ah, like Jon said, there is so much ground to cover in a commercial that if you don’t hit a home run right away, you’re going to be looked over.
Good luck to these guys though, I thought the commercial was hilarious.
Did Sony make this shit?
