Xbox 360 And Airport Extreme 802.11n Don’t Get Along

802.11n
How childish can Microsoft and Apple get? Pretty darn childish since they just don’t want to play nice with each other at all. Apple’s iTunes didn’t like Vista and now Xbox 360s don’t like Apple’s Airport Extreme 802.11n. Maybe it’s just a coincidence except it’s not; Wii and PS3 owners have not reported any problems.

Any network run on the Airport Extreme that is secured will not recognized by the 360 whether it’s WEP or WAP encrypted. Is Microsoft doing anything to help their customers? They’re telling everyone not to use Apple’s Airport Extreme or wait until the spring when a new dashboard update is available. Bummer, huh?

Huze (Who am I?)

Inferring that Apple or Microsoft did this intentionally is ludicrous. You have overlooked the fact that the Wii and the PS3 are completely new consoles, whereas the 360 has been out for nearly 18 months. Its not unreasonable to consider that an older console might have trouble with the new technologies packed into the 802.11n Airport Extreme.

Vista has been out in beta since September of 2006 and Apple did not bother to make sure that the largest user base will be able to use it in time for release in 2007? I think thats its pretty clear that they are both doing this on purpose.
