Circuit City Closing Up Shops

I have to admit, this news isn’t as shocking as it should be to me. Circuit City has fewer stores than Best Buy in my area and they’re always empty. The electronics retailer says it’ll be closing eight stores in the US, 62 in Canada and a distribution center in Kentucky. The move comes as Circuit City tries to reduce costs among falling profits. About 270 employees total will be out of work until they realize the Best Buy down the block is hiring.

Interesting. A new Circuit City just opened up across from a Best Buy here in Raleigh, NC. I’ve got a friend that went from Best Buy to CC once they opened, another trying to get a job there.

Strange, I always see more people at our circuit city than our best buy. Then again, circuit city is the only good tech store on the pearl city side, whereas best buy is down in Honolulu right by office max, compusa, and so forth.

circuit city has always been my first place to look for what I needed. But after reading that circuit city plans on firing 3400 people because they make to much, well, I will no longer step foot in your stores. I’m talking to all my family, friends and who ever will listen, that they should not buy at circuit city. how can the C.E.O. of circuit city make all those millions and turn around an cut the pay of your workers? Those people need to make a living, how dare any of you say they make to much! If you do this, I will never again buy from your company. Joe Katula
