LG Says Apple Copied Prada Phone

Perhaps imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery. Woo-Young Kwak, who is the head of mobile handset R&D at LG, says that Apple’s iPhone is a complete copycat of the LG Prada phone. Kwak goes on to say that they stole the design after the Prada phone won the 2006 iF Design Award. What do I think? I think it’s a coincidence and Kwak is acting like a big baby.
But with two big name companies like LG and Cisco attacking Apple, maybe Jobs and Co. should start playing it a bit more safe when it comes to dreaming up a new product. LG hasn’t said anything regarding legal matters, but don’t be shocked if they sue Apple in the next month or two.

Funny that when the LG phone first appeared many people cried copycat…before realizing that it was coming out before the iPhone. Doh! Anyway the UI isn’t as good as the iPhone’s. Everyone copies - at least improve when you do.

Copied? They’re both rectangles with rounded corners. The UI and software integration are totally different. LG, don’t be bitter. Remember your motto; Life is Good, not petty.

LG said the same thing about the MOTO KRZR vs. LG 8600 Chocolate flip. The KRZR was first there, too.

Obviosuly Apple totally copied LG Prada phone. Many of these commentors did not even know the fact because you guys seem not work at wireless field. I’ve been working at wireless field before, Phone can be developed within 6 month. I’m saying is when LG Prada phone got IF award back in 2006, Apple got an idea enough to make their Iphone which means they’re developing their SW but LG gave them ideal..what a shame! It’s not coincidence I think. Apple has no wireless technology basically. I totally agreed LG said Apple copied thier product. I won’t buy Iphone, it will be a piece of crap. And I don’t like ATT and Cingular service which I don’t like to stick them with 2 years contract. If people do that, they’re ignorance and stupid.

Shame on you LG, you’ve grown up by copying hundreds of other products form those chip microwave ovens to phones. Even..fashion, cosmetics, detergent, toothpaste.

True, But do you actually believe that the Iphone prototype looked like the current iphone now? Corporate espionage is big business, thats why new car designs are top secret before their public release. If you believe that the Iphone looks the way it does without the influence of LG I got a bridge I want to sell you.
