Toshiba G900: Meh

Took a look at the Toshiba WinMo 6 line today and I can’t say I was impressed. They’re pretty to look at but what you’re essentially seeing is anything and everything by HTC stuffed into a case marked “Toshiba.”

Essentially this is a powerful smartphone with fingerprint recognition and a Sony-Ericisson-esque 2-megapixel camera. It’s got WiFi and 64MB internal storage along with a miniSD slot.

The entire line was quite derivative, from MP3 phones that looked like Samsung offerings to the G500 slider with WinMo 6. Luckily, we don’t have to worry about getting these on our shores and they still make a mean laptop.

I am glad you got to see the G900. I would love to but I will have to wait and see if they come to Australia.

Anyways, the G900 may look like the HTC Hermes (I have the JasJam), but the WVGA screen makes it a whole lot better in my view.

I just wanted to let you know as it didn’t sound like you was aware of that from your post.

I currently have an HTC Wizard, which I love. The real disappointment with it is the 240×320 screen res. It is quite poor on a 4.5×6cm screen!!

But 480×800, EXCELLENT!

Win Mobile 6, good news too.

Just a shame (and a surprise) there’s no built in GPS….

Look in Toshiba retail outlets in Europe in Fall of 2007.
In Japan a little later then that. (Released with SoftBank Mobile - Formerly Vodafone)

Fall 2007? I’ve already preordered it and it will arrive in two-three weeks!
The WVGA is simply amazing
