Sweet! The repair center sent me a new unit made 12-26-2006. It is much quieter than the one that broke. I can’t be sure since the first one I had only lasted 4 days!

I concur, sent my 360 in as it died, mfg on new one they shipped out Dec 08/06 and it also has a Toshiba-Samsung drive and its louder than a freakin 747 taking off… Was really hoping for a BENQ drive in there.

you should keep the hitachi drive (old drive) you can flash firmware these and the samsung (2nd gen) only to play backup games (burnt dvd’s). Only the newer drives does not do this making the older drives more desirable~

Just bought a core to replace a dead system. I was manufactured in 2/07. It has the Hitachi drive. I’m taking it back….

Are the Benq drives noticeably quieter, or am I wasting my time?

Shame i cant use any backups on it.
I was hoping for one of the older drives.
Sound is not an issue i crank it up anyway.
I would trade mine foer a Hitachi anyway.

damnit i sent mine it also to try to get the quiter one, they gave me the toshiba the first one. lol sux, not too bad though, but still damnit i wanted the benq i waited 2 weeks 4 nothin

Mine is made in Feb 2007, it has the hitachi drive. It doesn’t matter because I’ve read the toshiba samsung drives that scratch discs. Sound isnt an issue for me.

Just got my drive replaced due to fault on the 26th march 08. i got the BenQ
