A Quick Call for Help
by John Biggs on February 20, 2007

I’m running a marathon in June. I’m taking part in Team in Training, a part of the the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and they offer training and support during the ordeal/sporting event to volunteers who agree to raise money for them. They’re also flying me out to the marathon site, in San Diego, and will probably transport my body back to Brooklyn when I cross the finish line dragging my spleen behind me.

As a new father, I’m recently acutely aware of the preciousness of life and the pain of disease. This event supports victims and survivors of leukemia and lymphoma and offers money for research into these diseases in hopes of an eventual cure. That said, I’m reaching out to all of you to help me in my quest to raise the $4,000. I won’t use this site as a soapbox any more than I have to, but a few bucks from maybe 2,000 of you could put me over the hump and then some. I will post this on the site only once more, just because it seems like a great way to get the word out. Note: I see none of this money. I just volunteer support from TNT and airfare. Additionally, if you know anyone afflicted with these disease or who succumbed to them, please let me know and I’ll dedicate this run to them. Thank you.
