Ok it might look pretty, thats about it.

It is SLOW, heres an example on a brand new laptop from Acer which was supplied with Vista and had two gigs of ram fitted.

At the time this laptop had 15 mins of battery power left.

Step 1) Plug in external USB powered 2.5 inch drive.

Step 2) Wait an exceedingly long time.

Step 3) System comes up with new hardware found.

Step 4) Wait an exceedingly long time.

Step 5) Message comes up – hardware is ready to use.

Step 6) Attempt to access drive, wait exceedingly long time, run out of battery lap top dies, !! VISTA SUX !!

Step 7) Run up same external drive, on windows XP, 1st time its been put on this machine, drive ready an accessed in 12 seconds.

Results XP is very stable and very fast, why use the cludgy pile of gunk called Vista? I know – so M$Soft can make more $$$’S.

If windows XP gets dropped ill go to one of the linux distros as opposed to using this pile of !@#!$ I would say sh!t but I think that would be demeaning to sh!t.

If you like Vista then good luck to you, personaly im not ready to tripple my system capabilities to have it run like dos 3.3 on an 8086.

So hows about giving some of us some credit here people. This is a subjective choice, and if you hate MS fine, but don’t call me stupid because I have a different opinion.

Microsoft realized the world consisted of more than just the good old USA and capitalized on it. They win. Apple loses. It’s just fact. Sorry. Still won’t stop me from buying the Mac, but I’m not going to put down Gates or PCs just to feel good about my purchase like you do. Just shutup. Stop worrying about my OS, and his OS, and her OS. BTW – GOOGLE has more of a chance of competing against Microsoft than Apple. Google and only Google is the only competitor Microsoft has EVER been concerned about. Why? Because Google gets that the world is BIGGER THAN THE USA!

So it’s simply impossible for anyone but Microsoft to be number one, eh? Frankly, you sound like a Microsoft whore.

In fact, there are two ways for Apple to win – continuing erosion of Microsoft’s market share and the cataclysm you alluded to. A combination of the two would be really cool. :)

Apple’s revenue has already increased dramatically in recent years. In the meantime, Vista may indeed qualify as a catastrophe. Combined with the aptly named Zune, it has certainly been a public relations nightmare for Microsoft.

Check out the discussions on technical forums, like SitePoint.com. I’ve never seen Bill Gates & Co. take such a beating. The new Macintels are becoming a fad among web designers.

But the popular media is also dumping on Gates, influencing the opinions of millions of computer uers. People used to accept Microsoft’s faults because they didn’t know there were alternatives; they thought that computers and viruses just went hand in hand. Now they’ve been shown a new vision, and it ain’t Bill Gates’ Road Ahead.

So once you mend the hole in your pants, ask Bill Gates if he’ll still pay you the $50 he promised you to make your futile post. (You do know about Microsoft paying for sanitized articles on Wikipedia, don’t you? Seems like Mr. Gates just has a natural talent for bungling public relations. LOL)

I’m a Mac fan and even I know you’re right.

But before I ever picked up a Mac I was realist – I realize it’s an OS, not a religious platform.

David Blomstrom you do look a little foolish because whatever way you look at it…90:10, 9:1, 90% vs 10%, 90pts vs 10pts. The larger of those two numbers is not competing with the smaller. It’s not. Sorry. Bill Gates and Microsoft WIN! Apple will be forever playing catchup. Sorry, but barring some catastrophic upheaval (and Vista is not it), Mac will always come in second to the PC.

What does “2nd” mean? Well… If $$$ is the bottom line…uh Mac is a distant, distant second.

If # of household users is the bottom line…uh Mac is second only because there’s two in the competition and 2nd has to be awarded to someone.

If # of business users is the bottom line…hee hee come on, this is just ridiculous. I feel like I’m still trying to convince and idiot Republican the war is WRONG!

If lowest cost per item is the bottom line. Mac you lose.

Combine Vista with Zune, and you have an even bigger joke. No wonder poor Bill Gates is coming unhinged, making an ass out of himself on TV and blatantly lying about Vista. This is even making it easier for people to understand the truth about the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation – it’s a fraud, too.

Then Microsoft will release a new OS and it will start all over again.

Its great to be a fan of a particular brand and to applaud its merits. But when you specifically target an opposing brand and berate its offering without all the facts and based on your “own” opinion, you risk jeopardizing the credibility of CG and disenfranchising a big segment of your audience (i.e. Windows users). Sorry, but I found this post to be pretty lacking in substance and weighed down with an editor’s own value system. Ironically, I use and manage Macs, Window PCs and a RH Linux server. I just believe that we need to keep to the playing field fair for all.

Vista is well received? I am a Chief of IT, and I have yet to see any one adopt this OS.

Incredible – Beyond belief or understanding ( this does not necessarily equate with good ).

Plus, as long as there is piracy Billie’s #1 goal will remain on course: Total dominance of the world’s PC market. He was the one who said in interviews that his vision is having Windows on every single PC around the world, and in the big picture it does not make a dent if some (or a whole country of, go Romania!) installations are not-so-legal.

Last but not least, with every single incarnation of Microsoft Windows you see the same dance, early adopters who say it’s great, early adopters who say it sucks, people who believe they HAVE to say it sucks just because they don’t like Microsoft, and then those of course who say it sucks but secretly wish it would run better on their Intel Macs (right, Vince). It was the same with Windows XP when it came out, and Windows 2000 before that, and every other Windows before that. Grow up people, and get something else to do!
