Ohhhh snap! According to an interview that was done with GameDaily, Nintendo’s Perrin Kaplan has confirmed that the GameCube is no more. Kaplan says that Nintendo will not be producing anymore GameCube games or systems, but if people want to still waste their cash purchase them, “the inventory is there.”

Big deal? Nah. By the time the GameCube is finished, all titles will be playable on the Wii – which is already having its 2nd-rendition developed. Besides, can you honestly say that the GameCube was a “killer” system? Didn’t think so.

  • Man, no love Vince. That PS3 has got drinkin’ the hatorade…

GameCube, we will miss thee. At there will be a core group of people including myself and friends who will enjoy the glowing goodness your produce when we crowd infront of a 20″ TV to play super smash bros melee…

  • nice try for flamebait.
    I, for one, won’t bite

  • Why should Nintendo continue to spend money on the game cube when the Wii can play all game cube games. On the top of the Wii, there are 4 game cube controller ports and two game cube memory card slots. My kids told me they played their friend’s game cube games on the Wii with no problem at all.

  • i still love my gamecube
of course, i still love my N64 and super nintendo too

I’m not a Wii fan, but its great to hear one last news about the good old Gamecube. The GCN was in fact my favorite gaming console, it had great games like Animal Crossing, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Paper Mario TYYD. It’s sad, but the GCN is really my last gaming console since I don’t have any interest in the next-gen consoles (Wii, PS3, Xbox 360).
The Gamecube is now considered Abandonware, a retro system, vintage gaming console just like the N64, SNES, NES, and Game & Watch was.

Nintendo is really doing me a favor, making my favorite console a “retro” status console. Having a retro console is really “cool” just like those who have an Amiga, C64, ZX, Tandy, Atari 800, etc.
This niche “retro” factor is great conversation piece especially at parties if your a Gamecube gamer, well all GCN gamers are considered Retro gamers now if even you still play the GCN games on a Wii.

I hope there are Gamecube Systems shown at next year’s Classic Gaming Expo or Vintage Computer Festival along with past systems like the C64 and Intellivision.

I better pickup a brand new GCN just to keep for future use if Nintendo stops producing it. Value may go up in eBay.

What’s my hobby now? I still play Animal Crossing on GCN & Twilight Princess. But in terms of “Gaming” , I’ve moved into Calculator gaming.
I’m eyeing on a TI-83 or TI-84 machine. I heard that homebrew Zelda games run on TI machines.

  • game cube is stell a good system but wii is a little better
