When I bought the lifetime, they said the subscription could be transferred as well.

And on wiki (I know), it said that Sirius would honor all contracts.

If they turn my 2 year old, OEM receiver into a brick, they will have a hard time convincing me to drop anymore cash with them.

That isn't rocket science...and I'm sure they know that as well.

HD radios are not 'High Def' Radios as the name leads you to believe. It is simply free FM radio, filled with commercials, sent out over different frequencies. Free FM is dead, anthony, and you suck cock.

The Sirius lifetime subscription is for the receiver, but you can transfer it to another receiver up to 3 times.

You call yourself a futurist? You are kidding right? I love it when so called technology experts or "futurists" speculate. The merger between XM and Sirius will not leave one half of the costumer base with what you so eloquently refer to as useless junk. Do you think they are stupid? Do you realize how much it would cost to replace either all of XM's or Sirius's receivers? Not to mention the problem of the OEM receivers that are already in cars. Impossible, plain and simple. And no these receivers can not be reprogrammed to receive either XM or Sirius. The hardware is incompatible. What will happen is that XM and SIrius will design and build a new receiver which will be capable of receiving both signals and therefore offer much greater choice for a new subscriber. The existing customers who own legacy radios will still be able to receive all the channels they enjoy today. There is no way XM or Sirius would jeopardize the roughly 14 million subscribers that they will have before this merger goes through. Stop your wild speculation and do some research first!
