Those of you who took a keen interest in the W880i should throw your hands up in excitement, as The Boy Genius Report has posted a plethora of unboxing photos. From well-designed packaging, to the built-in RSS reader on the phone, to the polished metal design, this phone is absolutely loaded. Not since the W800i have I gotten as excited for a Sony-Ericsson phone.

Interestingly, BGR calls out other manufacturers and their thick smartphone designs (HTC, we’re looking at you), saying that there’s no excuse for fatties anymore. We agree. Fat phones just don’t swing in the world of tech.

  • Sweet phone design! I just wish Sony-Ericcson would get out of bed with Cingular and become available via Verizon or Sprint.

My first digital phone was a Sony in the early days of Sprint. It was by far the best and most usable phone that I ever owned. Unfortunately, a terrible spill took its precious life after over 4 years of heavy use. I’ve been switching phones about every 18 months since and none have been near as good. SE (and Apple iPhone) should really open up their devices to other networks for better market penetration. My experience with Cingular (AT&T) was not good at all and I would likely never consider going back to them…ever.

  • I have the w880i. Best phone on the planet byat least 2 years!!!!
    AWESOME!!!!

  • Been looking EVERYWHERE for a US release date. Seems they are popping up everywhere but in the US. Have any idea when this phone will hit the states?
