NVIDIA GoForce 5500: The More You Know

Did you know that the NVIDIA GoForce 5500 mobile GPU is capable of running Quake 3 at full specs on a cell phone? I didn’t and it kind of weirds me out.
I remember back when Quake 3 first came out. The system requirements were so demanding that I had to do a full overhaul of my computer. Now it can run on a cell phone with all of its features enabled. Crazy talk.
What you see is the NVIDIA developers unit. It allows them to interchange parts freely. It has a faster processor than most cell phones, but I’m still impressed that the GPU is capable of this. It’s no small task.

What architecture is the chip? What kind of battery life can we except? Any one make any large orders for this product yet?

Vrax- It’s a demonstration of the Goforce 5500 which is in cell phones. The mobo here was to display the GPU capabilities on a full size monitor. The EM One is a cell phone already with this technology.
!uake III 32FPS on a 640×480 cell phone GPU is crazy! Ofcourse on Nvidia’s website they are already displaying the 6100 series so something new is always in the works.
As for battery life Nvidia goforce is awesome on battery life I have the GF4800 in the V3xx. Check out nvidia’s homepage to find out more.
