takes a lot of photographs — and I mean a lot — I love the idea behind this technology being developed by Canon: Blink Shot. Sounding like the name of a horrible band on MySpace, Blink Shot delays the actual firing of the shutter until the camera is sure that everyone in the frame has their eyes open.
The technology is based on something similar to the face recognition software its camera’s already use, but adds a simple equation to predict the exact instant that your douchey friend isn’t blinking, and snaps the shot then. As fans of Canon’s digital cameras, we’re excited to try this stuff out when it hits later in the year. David Pogue points out that you could just say, “Don’t blink!” before snapping a shot, but if you’re like us, camped outside of Cameron Diaz’s apartment on the fire escape, there’s no way she could hear you through the window.

after the initial amazement that my picture was on crunchgear, I thought “Hickey’s no blink camera sucks” since Callie has her eyes closed. Then I realized that your camera probably doesn’t have the no-more-blinkies feature.
What a boring party.
I think Matt just likes excuses to put pictures of himself up on Crunchgear. Now we just need a “no dyke” feature for Kelli….
Is that my leg?
Sounds interesting, although I’m a little weary of letting the camera decide when to snap the picture. At first I was thinking it would be troublesome if you were trying to take a candid of someone sleeping or with their eyes purposefully closed, but I’m sure it doesn’t stop the picture from being taken until the eyes open, but rather just delays the shot by like 1/4 of a second. Hmm…as much as i hate adding lag between hitting the shutter and when the picture is actually taken, this might be okay for the P&S cameras. (This would never fly with an SLR)
