Nokia’s been working on a program for about a year that lets consumers update their own cellphones without having to visit the local authorized Nokia store. It’s now finally ready to download. The Windows-based program (beat it, Mac users) works only on certain Nokia cellphones, but if yours is on the list, the process seems to be painless. Just plug a USB cable into the phone and into your PC and let the software perform its magic. Personally, I can’t wait until people start bricking their cellphones and complaining to Nokia about how they ruined their lives.

they reallllllllly need to put this on a mac platform – ever since i switched my 6682 has become much less useful. And no, I dont have windows installed yet.
I wonder how comes they only made the press release about this software that exists since such a long time (as you mentionned it)
I received the release today from Nokia Press Center and wasn’t really understanding…
This has been available for more than six months. I’ve used it to update my 6682 twice, zero problems.
