Nokia’s been working on a program for about a year that lets consumers update their own cellphones without having to visit the local authorized Nokia store. It’s now finally ready to download. The Windows-based program (beat it, Mac users) works only on certain Nokia cellphones, but if yours is on the list, the process seems to be painless. Just plug a USB cable into the phone and into your PC and let the software perform its magic. Personally, I can’t wait until people start bricking their cellphones and complaining to Nokia about how they ruined their lives.

  • they reallllllllly need to put this on a mac platform – ever since i switched my 6682 has become much less useful. And no, I dont have windows installed yet.

  • I wonder how comes they only made the press release about this software that exists since such a long time (as you mentionned it)

I received the release today from Nokia Press Center and wasn’t really understanding…

  • This has been available for more than six months. I’ve used it to update my 6682 twice, zero problems.
