Playstation Home Video Teaser

Here’s a clip of Playstation Home in action, just for you. This is either the most amazing thing in the world or another misstep. I hope to the God of War that Sony gets this right and doesn’t make Second Life 1.5.

  • Arrrrrrrgh…. what’s happening to me! It was so easy to dislike the PS3 and anything attached to it up until now, and then you give me this… this… horribly awesome video, and it makes me want to like it, makes me want to scratch that Xbox360 tattoo off my shoulder… Aaaaaaarrrrghhh… Calm down.. breathe deeply… relax… it’s just a teaser, nothing has happened yet, the world is still fine..

  • Sascha-
I really don’t think you have anything to worry about, but then again I’m xbox 360 fanboy.

I’ll wait for a slimmed down ps3, even then, I’m not sure I’d buy one. I wasn’t all that impressed when I played the ps3.

  • Reminds of the Mii in the Nintendo Wii except people look much more realistic

  • It’s Sony’s rendition of Nintendo Wii’s Mii, Microsoft 360’s online achievement system + 360 arcade, and Second Life…with a little Sims in the mix (I’ve never played/lived second life so maybe it’s more that than Sims, don’t know). They’re all successful, so why shouldn’t Sony ‘mooch’ off of them in that respect? I think it’s the perfect move for Sony and their PS3.

    People like to create characters.
People like to meet other people.
People like to play arcade games.
People like to show off their ‘leetness’.

All of this seems like it’d be apart of PS3’s Home. Peter, you say that you “hope to the God of War that Sony gets this right and doesn’t make Second Life 1.5.” But what’s wrong with Second Life? I mean I personally don’t play it but from what I’ve last heard, it’s doing quite well. Isn’t that what Sony needs right now? Something that will work quite well?

I don’t have a PS3, as I’m waiting for the right time, but Home is definitely interesting to me. Chat rooms don’t entice me that much anymore these days, but I’d at least check it out if I ever got a PS3. It also seems like a cool way to meet up with your friends/clan members before you go play a game online.

All this fanboyism is ridiculous if you think about it. Fans/gamers aren’t suppose to be competing for which is the better console, the developers are. The gamers should appreciate everything they get from these developers instead of constantly ridiculing the ‘other guys’. Without any of them, you’d have nothing. /rant

  • Mark-
They do need something good to happen, but I just think that this is a lame idea. It’s a melting pot of everything mentioned, which is why I have a problem with it. It isn’t anything new or innovative, they should have launched this when the PS3 hit the streets. The Playstation Home is an obvious ripoff and makes them look that much more pathetic. If people dig it, then good for Sony, but if they don’t well then, Sony has a lot to think about.
