before you try and correct other people, you better correct your self mate.

European is no small gaming market, if you take the sony e3 conference figures for the ps2, you would know that ps2 sold 41m in america and 38 million in europe, also note tehre were many countries in europe who didnt get to see the ps2 within its first year of life,

and it was sony plan from teh beginning, it was near impossible for them to get all ps2 games backwards compatible my emulation so they used the ps2 chip, giving them more valuable time to get games backwards compatible.

The first sign of this is in europe, but it wont be long before they do it to america as its a way they can cut cost on the ps3, didnt you know they are loosing like $200 per console? any little thing they can get rid of cuts the price by millions. when they are satisfied they will. no question about it

Alright, lets get a few things corrected. The Ps3 in the U.S. won't loose the compatibility, because the U.S. is a bigger market compared to Europe. We also play a lot more older games.

Now, as for the 360, screwing its user that isn't a surprise.

Well now, I'm not going to claim I'm"hype" and I don't have a large vocabulary of slang-words. However, I do believe that it's possible for Microsoft to "screw us over from the start." To screw one over is to deprive someone of something, I think, and that's what Microsoft did from the start. Sony folks gave us the compatibility then took it away, screwing us over mid-term. But, most gamers buy new consoles for new games and not the old stuff, right?
It's very pleasing news to hear that the PS3 is getting cheaper. Microsoft went gold with their strategy, making hi-definition movies optional, therefore reducing the 360's cost further. As far as I know, blu-ray just means you dont have as many multi disk games. If the PS3 gets cheaper, then it would surely come out on top of the console war. Some games already play on the PS3 with faster loads and a little better graphics (in contrast to the 360, not the Wii) from what I hear, and the last news I discovered was that the PS3 isn't working at full power, yet (I hope).
To sum-up, yes, MS screwed us over from the start making their console affordable, and the PS3 getting cheaper means its functions are reduced but it can equal or maybe even best the quality of its competition while not being more expensive, like it is.

"You mean like how Microsoft has already screwed you over from the start?"

Hahahaha. MS never promised to have "full" compatibility and then retracted it without even any official announcements - hence Sony "screwing us over". Much like a lot of other things that Sony promised us. Whatever happened to dual 1080p HDMI displays? Where are the amazing games we were promised? Sony Home, wow, not. The PS3 is a GAMES console!

Aw Jet Moto! I've been wanting to play that again for a while now, haha. I'm actually glad to see they're dropping the PS2 Emotion Engine from the PS3. When I got my PS2 when it came out, I hardly played any of my PS1 games (though there were a couple). I was always interested in the new games. Hopefully new games can start coming out for the PS3 that users will be distracted and play those rather than worry about playing old PS2 games. And later on when they Do want to play an old game, Sony will have hopefully updated their emulated list by then.

And if it's going to make it cheaper, that'll make the PS3 more enticing for a lot of people.
