Dude Over At Crave UK Thinks The PS3 Is The Most Unwanted Console Ever

So over at CNET’s UK version of Crave, a dude named Chris Stevens is declaring the PS3 the “great unwanted console”. That’s fantastic that he thinks he’s a mix of Jude Law and Paul McCartney, but guess what: he’s still wrong about the PS3. Chris goes on to spit out useless figures and data like a 1977 UNIX-command, saying that no one is lining up, the console is unwanted, and there’s no good launch titles. I’ll admit, the launch title lineup and the fact that the UK PS3 has no Emotion Engine built-in is sucky, but Motorstorm, Madden, and Resistance are all winners.

As for his statement that the PS3 is the most unwanted console in recent history, well I’ve only got one word to counter that: Nintendo. Virtual Boy? Obviously the hugest selling console of all time. Gamecube? Best graphics and game library ever (Mario Party 56 I’m psyched for!!!). That should be i-wait I forgot about Game and Watch. Sorry.

Look, I kid about Nintendo somewhat (I really think it’s safe to say that the Virtual Boy and Gamecube weren’t winners though), but there’s no way the PS3 is the most unwanted console ever. People are just poor and finnicky. If you don’t have the cash, then keep moving along buddy. The damn system hasn’t even launched in the UK. Give it a year then start declaring your opinion Stevens. From now on, you’re totally On Notice.

  • I’m pretty sure the Vince troll is CrunchGear’s Most Unwanted Columnist.

  • chris stevens is a dork!

  • We haven’t seen the full launch of the PS3 yet, how can someone say it is the least wanted or most unwanted console to date just because there are consoles on store shelves, c’mon now, let’s wait until the full launch is over before making decisions like that. The xcube wii60, suXbox 3suxty, or what ever Micro$haft is calling their hole in the pocket these days, didn’t have a glorious launch a year ago they had some pretty shoddy release titles if I’m not mistaking and I still see them on the shelves does that make them a least wanted console?? It’s junk like what Chris Stevens reported that really pisses me off about this whole thing, or that bit of news (yeah like you can get any reliable unbiased news on the net) that I read about the Home website being up and boring, it was just a place holder for a site there’s nothing to do there to get bored wait until they have some content on there to get bored with.

  • I don’t know what’s more annoying — the never-ending press coverage given to Britney Spears’ bald head and Anna Nicole Smith’s death, or the fact that I can always count on any article written by Vince regarding video game consoles to have some sort of juvenile attack on Nintendo. geeze…

  • Damian … “We haven’t seen the full launch of the PS3 yet.” Ummm? What?

  • Dude, relax. Did Stevens’ little article make you cry or something? And he is, in fact, making some good points. Your article, on the other hand, seems a bit juvenile. I like your “People are just poor and finnicky” comment. So if people don’t buy your precious PS3 they’re poor and finicky?? Or, maybe they just don’t want one. Grow up man. And stop the “PS3 haters” sniveling crap, that’s getting old.

  • majority of people that I have read in online forum settings have stated they aren’t buying for the price.

  • I’m sorry but Sony screwed me over to many times for me to feel sympathy for them.
I find it very funny that their arrogance is biting them right in the ass. “We’re Playstation! People will buy our console no matter what, and if they don’t it’s society’s fault!”
I hope they fail so that they can pump up the quality more and cut the “We’re better then you” crap.

  • Damian, and fellow dudes. Why are we getting offended and angry about things like this? What does it matter that the majority of people don’t like or like a certain system. Just buy what you like and everything is good right? Why, oh why, do we on this planet want the majority of humans to like what we like. Why is it, that if PS3’s get bad ratings we get angry. Damian, buddy, if you like the PS3, then good for you, and don’t worry about what other people like. Thank you, we are all in this together friends.

  • Well considering PS3 had the best launch lineup of any nex gen console, not to mention a killer new ap (Resistance)..I’d say the haters are just that..sad pathetic poor little haters.

Oh and heres news, PS3 is infact The Most Wanted Console in Europe…seems preorder numbers are historical for any consoles. PS3 has more preorders then 360 or Wii.

    Sony in 07!

  • People always try to predict something. Most of time what they wish for are always going the opposite ways. I am not sure what this article is going to accomplish anything, but to come out and specifically put down PS3 not xbox 360 or Wii is low. Neutrality…Neutrality… is the best practice.

  • @Lol, what a dumb shit you are: “Best launch lineup” what friggin linup? PS3 has quite possibly the WORST launch lineup EVER! Not to mention there are only two games coming out this year worth waiting for, your fanboyism is unbelievable!

  • sorry Vince, Madden might be a winner in the States but here in good old blightly we play Proper Football! lol

  • @lol, you make me lol. “sad pathetic poor little haters.” Jeez, wipe your nose and go finish your homework. Bottom line is the PS3 has been outsold by the other two nex-gen systems since its launch! When the PS3 launched the 360 was a little over 7 million units sold wordwide. Now the 360 has 10.7 mil units sold, the PS3 under 2 million, and the Wii is at over 5 mil. So during this great launch you speak of the PS3 actually LOST GROUND to the 360. Hate to tell you this, but if a console can’t gain ground during its initial launch it’s not good. When do you expect them to catch up if they don’t do it when they launch over the Christmas season? Maybe there’s a big 4th of July console season some of us hasn’t heard about??? Sony will gain ground when it launches in Europe, and it will sell a lot of PS3s over the next few years. But it will not catch the 360. To catch up by mid-2010 as some of the idiot analysts have predicted, Sony will need to sell 200,000 more units than the 360 EVERY MONTH FOR THE NEXT 38 MONTHS. Sorry, that hasn’t been happening and it isn’t going to happen. Like I said, when it launches in Europe it will gain a lot for a few months. Then, it will quietly settle down like it has every where else. Sorry, I shouldn’t have gotten so worked up on this. But lately the Sony snivelers are really starting to grate on my nerves. I think someone needs to make a support group for them.

  • “I really think it’s safe to say that the Virtual Boy and Gamecube weren’t winners though”

Putting the two in the same class isn’t fair. GameCube sold 22 million consoles. Virtual Boy was dead in under a year.

  • also please note that the gamecube is indeed a more powerful console than the PS2 – it just didn’t have the same amount of time invested into it by developers (so not as many tricks learned, etc)
