Contest day two! We’ll be announcing the first winner later on today. I’m happy with the comments so far and I know they’re just going to keep getting better.

For those of you just tuning in, I’m sure you’d like to know what the hell I’m talking about:

Between now and Friday we’ll be giving away three Crumpler Bags worth up to $120 each. You can select your own bag. If you’re not familiar with Crumpler, it’s time you get with the program. Crumpler makes some of the nicest bags on the face of the planet. Its packs are virtually unbustable* and are made with absolutely stellar quality and attention to detail.

So now you know what’s on the line, here are the rules. We’ll be monitoring the comments thoroughly until Friday at 5PM EST. The three most intelligent, intriguing, insightful, and otherwise compelling commenters between now and then will receive a Crumpler Bag of their own choosing (up to $120 as I already said). Make sure to use your email address in the commenter info login. Comments without a valid email will not be considered.

We’ll announce the winner sporadically over the next few days. And don’t forget to pay Crumpler a visit to say thanks for generously contributing its fancy wares to our quaint little Reader Response: Geek Travel Edition.

“intelligent, intriguing, insightful, and otherwise compelling”…
    that might be rough
    this is crunchgear after all

  • Wait, comments on any thread? Ah, damn, this is going to be real work.

  • I think that what would expand the CrunchGear community, and make for a more interesting read would be a member system like Gizmodo. They have established a large fan base and a commenting account on the Giz is considered somewhat an honor.

    Out

  • I’ve been following your ‘travel for geeks’ section for the past week now and it’s been fairly interesting. I travel a lot for my work and I carry a backpack with a laptop sleeve.

Generally it not a good idea to carry what looks like a ‘laptop bag’. I’ve seen notebooks being targeted in Sydney. One office I worked with lost seven dells in 5 minutes. A courier(dress like one anyway) just walked in casually and walked out with them. We all saw him, just no one thought to question him, and the guys was out the door too quick for anyone to notice.

Get a cable lock. A pro may take seconds to break into one (another contractor shown me) but generally a few seconds may be all you need. Especially in public where most notebook theft takes place. Don’t leave it laying around, even in a secure office.
