I've been following your 'travel for geeks' section for the past week now and it's been fairly interesting. I travel a lot for my work and I carry a backpack with a laptop sleeve.

Generally it not a good idea to carry what looks like a 'laptop bag'. I've seen notebooks being targeted in Sydney. One office I worked with lost seven dells in 5 minutes. A courier(dress like one anyway) just walked in casually and walked out with them. We all saw him, just no one thought to question him, and the guys was out the door too quick for anyone to notice.

Get a cable lock. A pro may take seconds to break into one (another contractor shown me) but generally a few seconds may be all you need. Especially in public where most notebook theft takes place. Don't leave it laying around, even in a secure office.

I think that what would expand the CrunchGear community, and make for a more interesting read would be a member system like Gizmodo. They have established a large fan base and a commenting account on the Giz is considered somewhat an honor.
