FragFX Offers PC Styled Control for PS3

No amount of auto-aim or assistance can help set in our way gamers like me with first-person shooters on a console. Trying to run and gun is next to impossible, and I’m one of those types that take weeks to complete games like Resistance: Fall of Man for the PlayStation 3. This is partially because I suck, but also because the controls really suck. But now the playing field is being leveled a bit as SplitFish GameWare unveils their FragFX game controller for the PS3. This device offers a right hand mouse controller with a detachable left hand grip controller. Already nicknamed the “FragChuck” this offers full range of 6-axis motion control (similar to the Wii-like controller), along with a game speed dial and a frag button, which slows the mosue down to incremental movement, making for smooth sniping. The mouse controller features a complete set of PS3 buttons, but uses mouse movement that replicate the analog stick or directional pad. A wired version will be out next month for $59.99, with a Bluetooth wireless version for $69.99 later this year. And while this setup still isn’t exactly a replacement for a mouse and keyboard, it might make playing FPS games on the PS3 just a little easier for stubborn old gamers like me.

LMAO they copy the wii left hand feature and they try putting gaming buttons on the side of a mouse lol how can u shoot and use multiple buttons while moving a mouse lol its so funny cause its inefficient and the name fragchuck should be sued, its stolen chuck from wii. why call it chuck. sony i like your stuff but this is lazy work of a peripheral

Luke, it has been “Nicknamed” the FragChuck. Also, the Wii’s controller is not a “chuck” its a nun-chuck. Also, if you are any good at hand-eye coordination using the buttons should be a breeze unless they are close together or don’t bulge out fare enough etc. The picture just looks like a rendering.

This is a good idea, playing FPS game with 2 sticks is incredibly annoying. But now you can have the graphics of the PS3 and be able to have fun playing your FPS games.

The PS3 uses the “famed” six-axis, not two sticks (maybe you were talking about the Wii Davis?).

Looks neat, a key concern that they may or may not have covered is that usually when playing a console, such as the PS3, there isn’t usually a flat surface at an adequate height to place something like a mouse. I guess that image (which does look like a “rendering” or MS Paint ownage, I dunno), shows a kneetop mouse pad or something, but I’d expect that to be very unstable, making for a lot of PC converts losing their mice when a giant zombie nazi jumps out from behind the corner.

wow, blaming sony for a third party accessory luke? now i know for sure, all the sony hate over the last few months is just console racism. o and sony didnt call it the fragchuck, the author of the article did, this is where you morons really loose all your credibility, you read an article, on the internet (birthplace of lies and tricks) and you immediatly assume the worst of it, do yourself a favour, if you want news on sony, go to sony’s website

Actually, just to clarify. I didn’t nickname this the “Fragchuck,” that honors goes to G4TV actually. I just said it is already being called the Fragchuck.

And yes, this is a third-party device, not Sony’s.

target demographics for game consoles don’t seem to know a whole lot about business.

copying, emulating, borrowing an idea from another company is as old as the second company that ever existed.

emulating another companies’ successful product is smart business.

i’m really looking forward to the bluetooth version of the fragfx.

can’t seem to find it anywhere so far.

it’s late april now.

The pad stays in place because it is rigidly connected to the left stick. Also the buttons are usually hit with the left thumb on the sixaxis, while the same thumb uses the analog sight stick, so now it will be MUCH EASIER to hit a button(throw a grenade) at the same time as you are aiming. I cant wait for this control!
