WatchMyWrist: Watch Geekery Alert
by John Biggs on March 22, 2007

It’s a watch rental system. You pick out a watch, rent it for a few weeks, and send it back. It’s very similar to all of those purse rental services for the ladies, but this is for manly men who like them some watches. I haven’t tried the service yet, but it seems on the level. If you’re anything like me, being able to wear masterpieces from IWC and Zenith make me a little wet in the trousers.

  • As a woman, I didn’t know such a purse rental system existed. ;) I’m not sure how well this will do — for sales, at least — considering that any rental service will likely not convert to those sales due to the ultimate wear-and-tear of consistent rentals. A cool factor? Yes. A long-term investment? No.

The only rental system I’d be convinced to try (before buying) is rentglass.com, which lets photographers try out Nikon and Canon lenses on their DSLR cameras.

  • Wow thanks Tamar for the rentglass.com link, I’ll have to let me room mate know about that one.

As for the watch rentals, I’m not as much of a watch guy as John is, but I’m starting to catch interest. WatchMyWrist may be a good start.
