Kyocera: HOT SCOOPZ

One stand-out device I saw this evening was the Kyocera E5000, an oddly shaped cellie with a fluid, sexy aesthetic.

No real info yet, but really the draw is the design. Look at that odd hinge. Look at the chrome. Sex in a clamshell, correct?

Best of all, we got the hot scoop on a new U.S. carrier, Carrier Logo. It seems Kyocera is making this phone just for them and we’ll hound them all day and all night until they tell us who is investing in this new MVNO. CG = tireless reportage.

They also showed off a new messaging phone with may or may not drop here in the States. It’s quite small, about the size of the Nokia 5300, and pops open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard.

Does “carrier logo” simply mean the logo of the carrier is to be printed there?

The Nokia looks awful tacky. Must be the lighting in the photo, but the camera keys look like they’re rhinestones, hinting towards something Liberace would own (BTW, did anyone read the “Arts” section of the NYTimes today? Lil’ Flip? Fliperace?)

On the other hand, the Kyocera looks like some future ninja star/communication device.

electro^plankton: Sarcasm doesn’t travel well over the internet, I think this was Biggsy’s attempt at cellphone humour :P
