Though the initial rush for the Playstation 3 in the UK and Europe showed it being well-received and profitable, the second week of sales is just not looking good at all. Official figures from Chart Track data show that indeed, the PS3’s sales have dropped by a mind-blowing 82%. But that’s not the worst part. Titles are taking a hit too. The two most popular games, Resistance and Motorstorm have dropped 60% since last week.
Chart Track data is collected from over 7000 UK retail shops, so I’d say this data is pretty accurate. Sony had better come up with a new marketing strategy/Killzone release if they plan on keeping up with the competition in Europe.

Surely game sales are down simply due to the fact that console sales have dropped. If fewer people have purchased the console, its probably accurate to also assume that the chances are few, if any, purchased a game for a console they didn’t buy
In fact while I’m at it…
The people who had always intended on buying a PS3 by now, probably have already, or don’t plan to for a few months yet. The people who never intended to buy a PS3, probably haven’t changed their minds just yet. This isn’t a revelation. So, is there much news in reporting that sales are down after the first week of release?
…me thinks, very little
Wait til christmas.
I’ve always intended to buy a PS3, just haven’t yet, waiting on it. I checked to see what games are coming out within the next few months, and there doesn’t seem to be too much that interesting until Q4. So maybe then I’ll get one. Hopefully by then the price will have dropped and Sony would have released some more cool interesting things…
PS3 price drop?? They lose $100 each one sold, so I doubt they would drop it anymore…
Surely Sony decision to sell a cheaper / less able version in europe is comming back to haunt them. Everyone knows that the euro version isn’t the same as the Japanese and American version, and that sooner or later Sony will be forced to standardise.
