CrunchTheft: Selling Links to CrunchGear on eBay is No Good
- April 14th, 2007
One weekly feature we have here on CrunchGear is our Help-Keys. Every Monday, we show you, the reader, how to do something you might not have known that you could do. It’s a free service, because we like you.
Not long ago, I wrote a Help-Key on how to fix an iPod that won’t boot. There are dozens and dozens of comments on the post from people who’ve tried my fix and found it works (and you’re all welcome).
Somebody, though, is trying to make a buck. And it’s not me for a change. Behold Thumb_Tack99’s auction, where for only $10, you can get the link that we’re giving you for free. So now we’ve fixed your iPod AND saved you from giving some shyster on eBay your money.
This is the funniest thing I’ve seen all week. Don’t give him your money.

That’s ballsy with a capital Z.
Really want to go buy it just to give the Ah-Sweep-Eh some negative feedback.

This is simply disgusting! I’m talking about this terrible case on my spanish language blog.

Haha, Yorch stole your article about someone stealing your help-keys

What a looser you should contact eBay and complain

Did you report it, or are you waiting for us to do it? ;)
I cannot believe that someone has already bought the link since you posted this. Google, anyone?

I’m not anxious to turn him in right away, actually, for a couple of reasons. One, it obvoiusly sends us traffic, if even a little. Two, it’s freakin’ hilarious. Three, I don’t care that much.

Well, the best way to get back at this moron is for all of us to purchase from this guy, pay with paypal, then do chargebacks. See, he is selling these as a tangible item, not covered by Paypals SPP. We would get our $10 back and he would get his account closed.
That will teach the fool.

Isn’t this considered stolen property…property, being your website and what you’ve written? He copied and pasted stuff directly from your article. Someone should report him.

It’s ok - Arrington makes money off your posts every day ;)

Hey Player Z,
The word you were looking for is intangible. I just had an idiot like you buy an intangible from me and file a complaint with paypal. I sent them an envelope via USPS with delivery conformation for .66 cents and I won the dispute. It should go without mentioning, eBay doesn’t close you account for a complaint on a single auction.
That will teach you, fool.
